Tunisia Records Over 10 Million Tourists in 2025 between January 1 and November 20, 2025
Tunisia is experiencing strong growth in its tourism sector, welcoming more than 10.033 million visitors between January 1 and November 20, 2025. This marks a 10.3% increase compared with the same period last year, bringing the country close to its goal of 11 million tourists. As reported by Ecofin Agency citing the Ministry of Tourism, the rise was driven by both traditional and emerging source markets.
Key Source Markets on the Rise
The United Kingdom saw a significant 40.1% increase, sending 415,000 visitors, while France contributed 1.07 million travelers, up 6.4%. Italy and Canada also posted growth, with arrivals rising by 8.6% and 11% respectively. The Chinese market, a focus of government efforts, expanded by 18.6% to 24,268 visitors.
Tourism Revenues and Economic Impact
Tourism revenues reached nearly 7 billion Tunisian dinars (about $2.382 billion) over the first nine months of 2025, reflecting an 8.3% increase. This momentum strengthens Tunisia’s position among Africa’s leading tourism destinations, alongside Morocco and Egypt. With 10.2 million visitors in 2024, Tunisia was already competing with South Africa for the third spot on the continent.
Tourism as a Strategic Economic Pillar
Tourism continues to play a vital role in Tunisia’s economy. According to the World Bank, the sector grew 28.1% in 2023, reaching 6.9 billion dinars and contributing 4.4% of GDP, up from 3.8% in 2022. Last year, the industry’s contribution nearly returned to its pre-pandemic level of 4.6%, highlighting its resilience and importance for economic growth.
